The Hazleton Headlines wasn't created to compete against Hazleton News 1, that wasn't ever my intentions. It's annoying when people bill the Hazleton Headlines as a copy of Hazleton News 1, especially considering our deeper history that stretches far beyond November of 2015.
Allow me to tell you a story: When I was much younger than I am now, me and my Poppop would always read the Standard~Speaker newspaper together every morning before I would go to school. It kind of became a tradition between us. Then in 2010 I created a webpage hosted by Webs.com called Hazle News. With the help of my Poppop, I'd summarize articles from the Standard~Speaker newspaper and post them on my webpage. Then about six to nine months later, my grandfather passed away. Not long after his passing, I took the website down because it'd only remind me of something he and I used to do together. I gave up on my passion. Journalism was - and still is - my passion. It's something I've always admired, even at the young age of twelve I knew what I wanted to do with my life.
Fast-forward five years later, I'm going through some old family photos and I came across one of me & my Poppop. I smiled and shed a tear of not sadness, but joy. It was then that I realized I was no longer upset over his passing, mainly because I can't name any regrets. During the time he & I spent together, we did everything imaginable. Though I wish we could've shared more memories together on Earth, I know that in Heaven he's looking down on me with a big smile.
It was in November when I relaunched Hazle News as the Hazleton Headlines. However, I didn't do that to rival with Hazleton News 1, but to continue my passion for journalism, and to also make the man pictured to your right even more proud.
I'd like to make something very clear: I don't hate Shayne Balliet or envy Hazleton News 1. But after learning what he did last year - at the mature age of 26 - put a bad taste in my mouth. Click on the link below to read more of that.
Nonetheless, I have no issues with Shayne Balliet or Hazleton News 1. I'm not concerned about the competition, I've never been. That is because a flower does not think of competing to the flower next to it. It just blooms. That's my formula to achieving brand dominance against Hazleton News 1. But believe me, my concern isn't with Hazleton News 1 right now. Though, I'm confident that the Hazleton Headlines will eventually reign superior after all is said and done. Thank you and God bless.
