Last night, the Hazleton Headlines reported on a cyber schooled couple that isn't being allowed to attend this year's Prom in the Hazleton Area School District. You can read that article by clicking here.
In past instances, cyber schooled students residing within district limits were allowed to attend the school dance. However, Dr. Butler is claiming different.
He had the following to say in an email sent to us earlier this morning:
Those were his words, what are yours? Use the hashtag, #HASDprom to engage on this topic with your friends via social media.
Click here to sign a petition that'd get the attention of school officials to reverse their decision.
Any student residing in the Hazleton area should be allowed to attend the special dance permitting that their grades allow them too, not the administration.
Prom isn't just a dance, but a memory of simpler times for when we get older in age. Prom is the growing stem of many relationships and it's a night that many hold closest to them as they reflect back on their high school years.. Perhaps the district doesn't realize that.
