DRUMS - This morning, shortly after 8 o'clock, Butler Township Police were notified that high tension electric lines were laying in the roadway at the intersection of Makara Drive and West Foothills Drive.
Upon arrival, officers learned that approximately 100 feet of electric, cable and phone lines were observed laying on the roadway causing a traffic hazard to the motoring public.
Witnesses advised police that a white cement truck ripped the lines down.
Witnesses informed Police that the driver of the cement truck exited the truck, surveyed the damage and then left the scene.
While officers were investigating, they were able to conduct a traffic stop on a white cement truck in that area matching the description owned by Hess Inc.
The driver was identified as Alberto J. De Jesus-Olivio, 30, of Hazleton.
Jesus-Olivio admitted to hitting the lines and leaving the scene.
Pennsylvania Power and Light, Valley Regional Ambulance, the Hazle Township Fire Department and the Butler Township Road Department all assisted at the scene.
Jesus-Olivio will be cited for Accidents Involving damage to unattended vehicle or property and Immediate Notice of Accident to Police Department.
