HAZLETON, Pa. -- On the afternoon of Tuesday, September 12th, at around 3:30, Hazleton PD responded to a residence in the area of 2nd and Lincoln Street for a report of a wanted felon.
Upon arrival, a Hispanic male attempted to flee from the police officers running out of the front of a residence.
The fleeing subject was apprehended, and brought back to Hazleton headquarters for fingerprinting in an attempt to positively identify the subject.
Based on the foregoing, it was determined that the individual was identified as SANTOS FIGUEROA.
FIGUEROA was found to have an outstanding fugitive warrant out of the State of New York for failure to appear, original charges being strangulation.
FIGUEROA was also arrested for providing false identification to law enforcement authorities.
Charges were completed on FIGUEROA and he was subsequently lodged in LCCF.
Chief of Police, Jerry Speziale issued the following statement via press release:
"Thankfully this dangerous felon was removed from our streets...the message should ring loud and clear that Hazleton is not and will not become a safe haven for criminals"
