DRUMS - In December of 2015, Butler Township Police received a Child Line report involving suspected child abuse at 85 South Old Turnpike Road in Drums.
Upon further investigation, police learned that an eleven year old juvenile attended the Hazleton Enlarged Ministry United Methodist Church camp in 2010.
At the time, Zachary Mackenzie Lee, 24, of Hazle Township was employed at the camp as a camp counselor. LEE was eighteen years old at the time.
The investigation revealed while Lee was employed at the camp, he met a juvenile in a bathroom.
Lee locked the victim in a bathroom stall at which time, Lee began engaging in sexual acts with the juvenile.
He admitted to police that he did have sexual contact with the minor at the camp and also provided police with explicit details of the sexual acts that he performed on the juvenile victim.
On Monday, June 20th of this year, Police arrested Lee.
He was charged with one felony count of Unlawful Contact with a Minor, one felony count of Corruption of Minors, one felony count of Unlawful restraint, and one misdemeanor count of Indecent Assault with a person less than sixteen years of age.
Lee was arraigned before District Magistrate O’Donnell. Magistrate O’Donnell set Lee’s bail at $25,000 Unsecured.
Lee was ordered not to have any contact with the victim or the family. In addition, he was also ordered that he is not to have any contact with any minors.
Lee’s Preliminary hearing is scheduled for Monday, June 27th at 9 o'clock in the morning at District Magistrate O’Donnell’s office in Sugarloaf.
