HAZLETON, Pa. -- On Thursday, August 9th, around 8:30 at night, Hazleton Police responded to the Davis Manor building located 126 North Church Street for a report of a naked male on the roof of the building.
It was also reported that this male had set off the fire alarm at this location prior to gaining access to the roof.
Upon arrival, officers observed the described male standing on the roof.
This male, who was later identified as a 21 Year Old Hazleton Resident, was making erratic movements towards the roof ledge and he was not complying with any verbal commands given by officers to step back from the ledge.
For the males own safety Hazleton City Police Cpl McAlarney assisted by the Hazleton City Fire Department utilized a ladder truck in order to gain access to the male.
The Officer was at that point able to safely take the male into custody without incident and removed safely in a fire department basket by the officers and firefighters.
While speaking with the male he made several statements along with his actions from this incident leading officers to believe that he was a potential danger to himself.
Officers transported the male to Lehigh Valley Hospital in Hazleton where officers completed a 302 commitment on the male for an involuntary psychological evaluation.
