HAZLETON, Pa - On Monday, a young man from Hazleton was taken into police custody for selling heroin and fentanyl locally.
Rafael Daniel Cruz Reyes, 20, of Hazleton was arrested following an investigation by the Luzernce County Drug Task Force, which consisted of members of the Hazleton City Police Department Narcotics Unit and the West Hazleton Police Department following a long term investigation into the sales of heroin and fentanyl in the Hazleton Area.
Rafael was charged with 3 counts of delivery of a controlled substance, 1 count of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, 1 count of conspiracy, 4 counts of criminal use of a communication facility, (1) count of possessing a firearm with manufacturer number altered.
All criminal counts are felony charges.
The Drug Task Force was also assisted by the Hazleton City Police Department and Hazleton City Police Department Special Operations Group in the executionof a search warrant at 941 Lincoln Street.
Based on the search warrant the officers recovered 594 bags of packaged heroin-fentanyl, more than $1000.00 dollars in drug proceeds and a firearm with an obliterated serial number.
Rafael was transported to the Luzerne County Correctional Facility for overnight arraignment.
