DRUMS, Pa. -- On Tuesday, May 16th, shortly before 11 o'clock in the morning, Police responded to 317 North Old Turnpike Road in Drums after reaching a report of possible explosive materials being located outside of the residence.
An individual who was working at the residence discovered it and contacted Police.
Butler Township Police responded and determined it to be dynamite.
The residence is unoccupied and it appeared that the dynamite was there for some time.
Troopers from the Pennsylvania State Police, Hazardous Device and Explosives Section, responded and safely disposed of the approximate (50) lbs of dynamite.
As a safety precaution N.Old Turnpike Road was closed in the immediate area during the investigation and disposal.
Valley Regional Fire and EMS, Sugarloaf Fire Department, and the Butler Township Road Department assisted with the incident.
