HAZLETON, Pa. -- On Thursday, June 1st, shortly after 1 o'clock in the early morning, 23-year-old, Ayvi Antonio Marte, of 166 South Laurel Street in Hazleton was arrested by the Hazleton City Police Narcotics Unit along with agents from the Luzerne County Drug Task Force following a 2 month long investigation into the illegal sales of marijuana in and around the Hazleton Area.
Investigators, acting on numerous anonymous tips from the public began investigating MARTE and developed confidential Informants.
Investigators made numerous controlled marijuana purchases from MARTE utilizing said Confidential Informants. On the above date and time, a traffic stop was initiated on MARTE and he was found to be in possession of approximately 20 pounds of marijuana packaged in vacuum sealed bags located in the trunk of his vehicle. A large amount of US Currency was also found in MARTE'S possession.
During the course of the Investigation, Investigators seized 20 pounds of marijuana and approximately $57,000.

The Hazleton Police Narcotics Unit was assisted in this Investigation by Luzerne County Drug Task Force Agents from West Hazleton PD, Sugarloaf PD and Butler Township PD.
