SUGARLOAF, Pa. -- On Saturday, February 11th, shortly before 11 o'clock AM, an officer was dispatched to the Sunoco gas station on State Route 93 near Perkins restaurant.
The officer received information that a white male dressed in all black clothing entered the convenient store, brandished a meat cleaver and threatened to rob the store.
The male fled without obtaining any cash or merchandise from the establishment.
The male left the scene in a black Jeep Grand Cherokee with the license plate covered with paper.
The vehicle was seen leaving the parking lot by witnesses traveling south on State Route 93.
The officer responding located the vehicle traveling north bound on State Route 93 and conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle in the parking lot of Turkey Hill near Airport Road.
A male identified as Brett Shafer, 38, and a female identified as Shelley Rochelle, 37, both of sugarloaf were taken into custody without incident.
A search of the vehicle was conducted, the meat cleaver was recovered from inside of the vehicle.
Both Shafer and Rochelle were charged and arraigned on robbery related charges and are currently lodged in Luzerne County Correctional Facility.
