SUGARLOAF, Pa. -- In the early morning hours of 12 o'clock on Sunday, July 23rd, Officers on patrol observed a vehicle with no functional tail lights.
When Police attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver had crossed into oncoming traffic, nearly striking a vehicle head on.
The vehicle continued to travel in the oncoming lane until pulling in the center turning lane and stopping.
Officers gave verbal commands for the driver to exit the vehicle.
The driver failed to comply with the officers, causing the officers to remove the driver forcefully from the vehicle, but he had still continued to resist with officers.
It was determined that the man was under the influence of alcohol.
A loaded Ruger .357 magnum was found concealed inside of the vehicle.
It was discovers that the male did not have a concealed carriers permit. Also inside of the vehicle officers found a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
56-year-old, James Mccorkle, of Kentucky, faces multiple DUI charges, Fleeing in an Attempt to Elude Police Officers, Firearms not to be Carried without a License, Resisting Arrest, Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Careless Driving and other traffic offences.
Mccorkle was transported to Luzerne County Correctional Facility where he will be held until formal arraignment.
