HAZLETON - With in 24 hours, two shootings occurred in Hazleton. It began on Sunday, July 10th.

Incident Details (Brief Summary)
That night, shortly before 7:30, Hazleton Police were investigating a shooting which happened at the Beech Street Park in Hazleton.
Luzerne County 911 reported a gunshot victim in the area of the Beech Street Playground.
Upon arrival, officers met with several witness that observed a fight between 10-15 individuals in the grassy area near the hockey arena between Chapel Street and Locust Street.
It was found that a male victim, 21 years old, of Hazleton was shot in the buttocks by a male identified as Eric Sanchez, 19, of 650 Alter Street in Hazleton.
The male victim fled the area and was brought to the hospital by private auto.
Sanchez fled through the wooded area with two other males as officer arrived on the scene.
The two other males are identified but their names are not being released at this time.
The crime scene was secured by the responding officers and evidence was collected from the area.
Officer's J. Hutnik, W. Mazur, P. Bautista HPD, WHPD, Butler Township, Sugarloaf, and PSP responded and assisted in the investigation.
Detective Lieutenant David Bunchalk and Sergeant William Gallagher responded to the scene and led the criminal investigation.
Bunchalk and Gallagher charged Eric Sanchez with Aggravted Assault and a warrant has been issued.
Sanchez is wanted by the Hazleton Police Department and should immediately turn himself in.
All shooting incidents in City of Hazleton have been investigated and nothing remains outstanding.
