HAZLETON - Earlier this afternoon, the Hazleton Headlines published an article claiming that the Hazleton Area School District were banning the use of backpacks.
To verify the legitimacy of those reports, we contacted HASD Superintendent, Dr. Craig Butler.
He tells the Hazleton Headlines that across all the high school buildings, they stared to enforce that all backpacks be kept inside lockers during the school day.
The alleged reports that they were being collected and stored inside large bins are false, according to Butler.
Butler says that the reason they're enforcing this at the Academy of Sciences as well as is because of limited space.
