HAZLETON, Pa. - Today, a man from Hazleton has been arrested for the selling of heroin.
On Thursday, January 19th, Hazleton Police arrested Manuel Antonio WAISOME Jr, 24, of 720 North Manhattan Court Hazleton..
Under the Supervision of Detective Sergeant Darryl Ledger, the Hazleton Police Narcotics Unit in conjunction with the Luzerne County Drug Task Force conducted an investigation into the illegal sale of Heroin in the Hazleton area.
As a result of the investigation, three undercover heroin purchases were made from WAISOME.
After the last sale of Heroin was conducted WAISOME was taken into custody in the area of 10th and Manhattan Court and found to be in possession of police pre-recorded buy money.
At the time of his arrest WAISOME provided the name of Jason WIlliams in attempt to conceal his true identity, which proved to be false.
Subsequent investigation revealed his real name of Manuel ANTONIO WAISOME JR.
Investigation further revealed that WAISOME was wanted in New York City in connection with a homicide.
WAISOME was charged with three (3) counts of Delivery of a Controlled Substance (Heroin) and three (3) counts of Unlawful Use of a Communication Facility.
The Hazleton Police Patrol Division and K-9 "Echo" assisted in the arrest of WAISOME.
Members of the Hazleton Police Department communicated and coordinated their efforts with the NYPD Fugitive Task Force and at approximately 6PM, members of the NYPD travelled to Hazleton and met at Police Headquarters in furtherance of the Investigation and coordination.
Chief of Police Jerry Speziale issued the following statements in a press release:
There's a zero tolerance for illegal drugs in our City and Hazleton's Finest will continue to attack the supply and demand of illegal drugs."
