DRUMS- Early Saturday morning, Butler Township Police arrested a 55-year-old man of Pottstown following an investigation into a stolen vehicle, according to a press release.
Police were patrolling the Econo Lodge located on Woodmere Drive around 2:25 am Saturday morning when they checked a registration of a vehicle parked at the hotel.
The car was listed as stolen by the Boylestown Police Department in Berks County.
An investigation developed a suspect, Brant D. Scharneck, and police located him in the motel.
He subsequently confessed to possessing the vehicle.
Police also located drug paraphernalia inside Scharneck’s wallet.
The vehicle, a Mercedes-Benz, was recovered from the scene.
Butler Township Police charged Scharneck with receiving stolen property (motor vehicle), a felony and possessing drug paraphernalia.
He was transported to the Luzerne County Prison to await an overnight arraignment.
