DRUMS, Pa. -- On Tuesday, the Hazleton Headlines reported on a rumor that was spreading across much of our area on if drugs were the reason that Theodora's Restaurant closed in April.
The real estate owner of where the former eatery operated out of, Lori van Hoekelen, mailed us a letter via fax Thursday morning to comment on them rumors.
"The lease entered into between VH Real Estate, LLC and Theodora's, Inc. was terminated by mutual agreement of all interested parties," Lori wrote. "I have no knowledge of drugs being dealt at the facility and can assure you that it was not the reason for the lease termination."
Another rumor spreading across our community is that Theodora's is reopening at the same premises with new owners and a new chef.
In the same letter addressed to us, Lori made clear that the property is currently being refreshed in hopes that a restaurant will reopen in the upcoming months, but that Theodora's won't be reopening at the location it formerly operated out of.
"Theodora's will not reopen at this location; we have no knowledge of whether Theodora's intends to open at a different location," Lori wrote.
